Getting in shape – for the healthier YOU!

Need to drop some weight for your wedding??? Is your dream lehenga taunting you to shed those extra pounds?? Well, rather than focusing on shedding your extra pounds, you can focus on becoming your healthiest you.To do this, you would need to exercise regularly and follow a good diet at least 2 to 3 months before the wedding.


You could consult a dietician for your diet plan or follow your own diet.The benefit of consulting a dietician is that you will not only lose weight, but stay healthy too. A dietician would be able to understand your nutrition needs and help you towards your goals, keeping you healthy in the process.

But not all of us can spare the extra money on a dietician. So if you want to go ahead and make your diet plan, you should first educate yourself on all the possible diets available and select the one that would suit your needs. The important thing to remember is, starving yourself is not something that you should do. To be a glowing and beautiful bride you need to look healthy, which will not happen if your are depriving your body of food.


Exercise regularly. Allocate time for your workouts and consider it as an integral part of your wedding planning. You have plenty of workout options to choose from. You could join a gym if you are a gym person. But if you prefer to have a fun based workout, you could try zumba which is becoming quite popular in India now. You could try yoga if you want to have a relaxing workout. There are plenty of other options as well. Choose the option that suits you the best and stick to it. Make sure that you do both cardio-vascular exercises and strength training.


Exercising and following a diet can be difficult for someone who has not done it before. Be realistic. Don’t set goals that is impossible for you to accomplish. Do not get discouraged if you do not see immediate results. Remember it takes time and when you feel that you cannot do it, think of the dress, that you so desperately want to wear on your honeymoon. That should motivate you!!

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Set realistic goals and don’t over work yourself.
  • Take baby steps. Its always better to start as early as possible. Losing weight in the last minute is not easy. It can rather be stressful.
  • Stop eating junk food. Stay away from oily fatty food. Not only does it make you fat, it makes your skin look dull too. But indulging once in a while is ok!! 😛
  • Replace carbs with more fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat smaller portions.
